Fully-Fashioned Knit

Fully-fashioned knitwear is made by knitting each panel to its final shape — widening and narrowing stitches at the edges — then linking the panels together, rather than cutting shapes from a large knitted sheet ("cut-and-sew"). The fashioning marks (small angled lines near seams) are the tell. Fully-fashioned construction wastes less yarn, produces cleaner, stronger seams, and holds shape better, which is why quality sweaters use it. It costs more in time and machinery. On a spec sheet or in close photos, fashioning marks are a genuine quality signal that the sweater was built to last rather than assembled from offcuts.
