Chambray
Chambray is a plain weave using a colored warp yarn (often indigo) and a white weft, giving a soft, lightweight fabric with a subtle heathered look reminiscent of denim but far lighter and un-twilled. It is a casual-shirt staple: breathable, hard-wearing for its weight, and it softens attractively with washing. Do not confuse it with denim — chambray is thinner and plain-woven, not the diagonal twill of jeans. On a spec sheet, chambray signals a rugged-casual shirt; weight (in oz or GSM) still separates a substantial one from a flimsy summer version.
