Leg Opening
Leg opening is the width of the trouser hem, usually given flat across (double it for circumference). It is the most honest single number for how slim or wide a pant is — a 6.5–7 inch opening is slim, 7.5–8 is straight, and 8.5+ is relaxed or wide. Brands love vague words ("slim taper") and bury the measurement, so the opening cuts through the marketing. Combined with the thigh and knee measurements, it lets you predict the silhouette before ordering. When a size chart lists leg opening, believe it over the fit name every time.
